About NAGA

The North American Guqin Association (NAGA) is a nonprofit cultural arts organization dedicated to presenting and preserving the art of the guqin, spreading community appreciation of Chinese culture through the traditional art of the guqin, and building a bridge for cultural exchange and mutual understanding between the Chinese and American communities.

NAGA was founded in 1997. In the last ten years NAGA has grown in membership and has increased the number of programs it offers to the public. NAGA activities include guqin presentations, workshops, concerts, lectures, cultural gatherings, conferences etc.

NAGA invites guest presenters and performers to its events to expand its mission to bring China's cultural heritage to the western world.

NAGA needs your help! Here are some of the ways you can help. Your support can make all the difference!

1. Call for All Types of Artists and Musicians

In the past NAGA has provided a platform for all types of talented artists and musicians to get exposure in the community and has fostered bridges between artists, inspiring collaborations involving different art forms.

If you are a musician, artist, calligrapher, photographer, poet, tea master, martial artist, tai chi master, dancer, singer, or actor who is interested in doing collaborative work, sharing your art, contributing to the community, and fostering cultural exchange, feel free to write NAGA and join us. We are also interested in doing collaborative work with artist groups and organizations.

2. Join the NAGA Team

NAGA has always had talented people to help with its various projects. NAGA's achievements in promoting the Chinese guqin outside China have earned it high praise from the qin community inside and outside China.
You too can be a part of the team. Help out back stage! Meet the artists! Get involved in your community! NAGA is also looking for volunteers to help with upcoming projects and administrative work.

Volunteering for NAGA is rewarding. You'll meet new people and work together with a team to positively impact the community. Also, your volunteer hours may be used as resume material, internship experience, or even college credit. You will have the opportunity to meet guqin players and artists from all over the world.

The positions we seek to fill include, but are not limited to the following: (and there is the possibility of assisting virtually for those who do not live locally)

3. Make a Contribution

NAGA welcomes donations of any size, great or small. You can be sure that your contribution will go directly towards programs that celebrate the beauty and innovation of the Chinese traditional art of guqin. Note that donations to NAGA are tax deductable.

4. Become a Corporate Sponsor

The guqin is a world heritage and an art that represents Chinese high culture. NAGA has many ongoing projects both locally and internationally. Sponsoring a production or donating money to NAGA will gain valuable community visibility for your company and may even foster a connection with China since NAGA has numerous contacts in China, where the guqin has become a high priority now that the government is interested in protecting its heritage. It will also be a source of great satisfaction to know that you are helping to support the continued growth of Chinese music and culture in America. Your logo will be on our web site and our events flyers, programs and advertisements.
