Elegant qin gathering invitation

Dear Qin Friends:

Join the North American Guqin Association (NAGA) on Saturday, October 8th at

2:00 pm as we celebrate California Arts Day 2005! Throughout October individuals and organizations from California communities, large and small, will be hosting events that highlight the value of the arts. Events are posted on the California Arts Council website: http://www.cac.ca.gov/?id=283. Once again we will hold the yaji at the Hayward Japanese Gardens. Admission to the gardens and yaji is free. This may be the last opportunity this year to hold our yaji at this popular outside venue before colder weather forces us back indoors. Qin players are encouraged to bring their instruments and tables. Part of the time may be devoted to a group rehearsal.

Qin players from different countries and different states will attend. You can play the qin, chat about the qin, meet qin friends face to face instead of online, listen to qin music by different players, probably from different teachers or schools, play instruments made by various qin makers, and exchange information on the qin.

The Japanese Gardens is a peaceful and beautiful oasis where we can enjoy the fall among elegantly shaped trees and a carp-filled pool into which a waterfall flows. There are several shady pavilions, in which people will set up their instruments and play.

Our NAGA guqin introduction class will start very soon. If there are any new qin friends who want to know more about the guqin or about the group lessons, or who would like to meet qin friends or a teacher, you are most welcome to join us. Anyone with an interest in guqin is welcome. Bring your friends along too! Players of other instruments and singers are especially welcome. We can do some experimentation and enjoy the autumn together.
